DANIEL WEBSTER AND BRYANT NECHA PLAYOFF CHAMPIONS
Daniel Webster College earned their first NECHA Playoff Championship by
defeating the United States Coast Guard Academy in the Conference B Final
in overtime By a score of 4-3. Daniel Webster lead through most of the
three periods of regulation time. However, U.S. Coast Guard kept chipping away
at their lead and finally knotted the game at three goals apiece with just
0.9 seconds remaining in the game. Daniel Webster netted the win with only 49
seconds left in the first sudden death period.
Bryant University cruised to a 6-2 victory over their strong rival MIT. This was the
seventh meeting of these two teams in the Conference A Playoff Championship in the past
nine years. This is Bryant's fourth Playoff championship victory.
UMASS-AMHERST, MIT AND BATES REGULAR SEASON CHAMPIONS
UMASS-AMHERST takes West Division as regular season champions in their first
year in league. MIT earns East division regular season champion for Conference A
with a 6-2 record. MIT will receive highest seed in Playoffs.
Bates gains their second consecutive regular season title in Conference B. Bates
beat Daniel Webster in back to back wins to edge another title.
UMASS - AMHEARST (NON-VARSITY) AND RI COLLEGE ADDED TO NECHA MEMBERSHIP
University of Massachusetts - Amherst (non-varsity) and Rhode Island College were both
elected as full members of the NECHA at the Annual Spring Meeting and will be eligible for
the 2006-2007 season and playoffs. University of Massachusetts - Amherst (non-varsity) will
join Conference A West and Rhode Island College will compete in Conference B.
University of Vermont (Non-varsity) was given associate member status and will compete in
Conference A.
